Hi, HLB, I have to say that I disagree with the point number 3.
I believe your are correct, Kathie.
It is a subject that is very intellectual, and subjective because every person is different. I am cursed because of a drug epidemic in all the people who populate America. They also seem to have the blessing of the government who seems to think that feeding them, so they don't need to work or be responsible citizens to care for themselves. Drinking and intoxication is a form of escape for totally helpless people. Fed into a state of disability, and hopelessness. It's a never ending cycle in America, because it then become's the children who learn from the parent's who have children, who learn how to 'game the system', to become addicted to drug's and alcohol, because they have nothing better to do. No Goal's, or hope because they see nothing better than the friend's they have that do the same thing. 'Peer pressure', as if poverty was not a bad enough challenge to overcome.
I live in a very rich city, and the crime rate is very low in general. Yet the divide is extreme. The 'man-child' who crashed into my property is extremely, RICH in money, yet poor in social values. His addiction is purely mental. He feels he is above the law, because money from his mother has always bought his freedom. I don't normally do this but I want to make an example of him, at least to get some worthless help for him. I hate admitting this, but in his case, his mother failed to raise him properly when it really mattered, as a child.
She spoiled him with money, and no discipline. Now he is a man doing foolish thing's.
A person can have a drink or two, but they also should just sit down, and not drive a truck afterwards. Common sense is not very common when you feel you are invincible, and protected by money and a rich Mommy. The poor have that same mentality, except mommy is government welfare, anyone can get, even illegal immigrant's. So dealing drug's too buy gas for car's and alcohol, and dead people in the street's is the new 'normal'.
A true insanity, that will not be fixed by doctors.
It is an odd concept, I thank you for reminding me about. Kathy remind's me to think, and I appreciate that in a forum.
Even when the perspective's are so different.
