Not daily mail I hope. I am very sceptical of most press and statisttics but daily mail use loop hole that if it is already in print anywhere including online they can report it as fact.
darling, no, i have better taste than that. it's pretty widely known as one of the most biased newspapers in the uk. its real late here, but i'll put something together later for you and any other international bimboland players who might be wondering.
thanks I am open to chat debate. Discussion with anyone with any ideas
i may have been harsh i just thought your comment came off as implying we shouldn't care about Some deaths at the hands of the police as if they can be justified by someones life and minor offenses before the incident which isn't true... if you're genuinely curious about why george floyd was the incident that sparked such outrage despite him being "bad" by your definitions it's largely because of the brutal footage of the murder by police that gained traction online and the growing frustration with similar occurrences regardless of what the victim did or didn't do (elijah mcclain was widely used as an example of this disregard for character because he was an extremely sweet kid, or breonna taylor who was a sleeping nurse). your comment, to me, implied people should've just let the george floyd murder slide because he wasn't perfect, which set me off.

Has anyone been to a protest? I would love to hear your experience. I live in the suburbs forty minutes away from a major US city, accessible by metro. I haven't gone to a protest yet because I'm worried about getting stranded in the city after metro closes (especially since metro has limited COVID-19 hours). Has anyone gone into a city they don't live in to protest?
Not including vigils, I've been to 5. 3 of those were in small town California and 2 of those were in Los Angeles (an LGBTQ+ one and the big one). Two of the small town ones were fine and well-organized, though one had a turn out of dixie flag toting, gun carrying counter protesters but they started to leave when we didn't do anything.

The 'pride' march in LA was super chill and awesome, because everyone was super welcoming and there to support one another. The bigger, official, BLM protest in LA ended a little scary. The organizer managed to keep everyone's eyes on marching for the cause and she was super kind but cops still came out of the woodwork and managed to block people off to arrest them. Kind of BS because most of the 'arrests' were due to the crowd not dispersing quickly enough when asked to, which wasn't anyone's fault since there were thousands of people at the event.

Those were a couple months ago now, though. Things have escalated in places like Portland so I can't speak on anything more recent.

So I know this is solidly like 6 months late, but Hi! I consider myself a pretty avid protester at this point even though I really only got started in May I'm basically a veteran now XD I do live in the city that I generally protest in so I haven't had a transportation crisis yet, but I think in a lot of ways it is very smart to be cognizant of that. I have one friend I met protesting who lived about 1.5 hrs away in a suburb and would just rent hotels every weekend so he could come to protest which I thought was ABSURD, I also ended up letting a girl from out of state live on my couch for a month in the midst of everything since she was sort of a travelling protester, but ran out of money. The thing that's really nice about protests is that if you can identify the community at the heart then those people are basically always super kind and want to help. I know SO many people who are protesters that during the whole summer ended up taking in various homeless people who were also out there protesting and helping to support them, those are just the kinds of people who are out there.
If anyone ever has a chance though I would recommend going to protest in Washington DC. I went there in August for the "Get Your Knee Off Our Necks" Rally with MLK's son, and the whole atmosphere there is incredible. The activists who run the marches and various things there are on a whole other level and it's really amazing to see.

I just want to remind everyone: just because Biden was elected does not mean that the battle to dismantle the racist structures that uphold American/western society is done. This was a battle won. Continue to call for police defunding, continue to hold cops accountable, continue to make things, right, non Black and non BIPOC folks, continue to learn and educate ourselves. We've still got a long way to go
