Thats great! I've watched 13th and was shocked at how ingrained racism is in the system and for so long.Absolutely, I watched it a couple of years ago and the penny absolutely dropped for me. We most definitely do. We shouldn’t rely on our Black friends to educate us or set the bar for us either! As I said before, I’ve always considered myself to be against racism but I haven’t done enough to be anti-racist, and this is something I’m determined to work on. I’m ashamed it’s taken me this long to recognise this but white guilt doesn’t make anything better and making a commitment today to be better is a step in the right direction.
You are an example of what more of us need to do. At every level and every position we have an opportunity to make a difference.
Im using my position as a recruiter to impact hiring practices, training and development and creating an environment where BIPOC feel welcomed in the workplace
Has anyone been to a protest? I would love to hear your experience. I live in the suburbs forty minutes away from a major US city, accessible by metro. I haven't gone to a protest yet because I'm worried about getting stranded in the city after metro closes (especially since metro has limited COVID-19 hours). Has anyone gone into a city they don't live in to protest?i'm also in a suburb of a major city and normally metro downtown but ended up driving for 2 different protests a couple weeks ago. i was similarly worried about limited metro hours and the fact that things were closing at random at the time to fuck with protesters leaving. traffic was busy like always but honestly parking was easier to find than expected (probably bc of covid and no tourism) and i just made sure to be far enough out from where they kept shutting roads down by a certain building of major importance. i brought a few friends who don't drive/also live far out and it went fine! only thing was we all completely forgot where i parked after marching several miles but i'd still recommend going for it if you can get a friend to drive maybe. i can't speak on experience with public transit late night right now though

Anyone else shocked at how black people who achieve great things are just ignored? History is so whitewashed. For the longest time I didn't hear people talk about Marsha P. Johnson and I'm sad that as a young lgbt person I never knew how much we owe to black people or about our history. The American LGBT Rights Movement was, in fact, started by a black transfemme sex worker, and now that you're in the know don't you ever let anyone forget it! <3
