So, music is this cool thing that brings people together. Best years I've ever spent were with total strangers, jumping up and down to bands at Warped Tour ('04 - '10). So let's talk about music and see if we can make some bonds! lol

I want to know what the four most influential songs or albums to you, personally. What songs and what albums do you think shaped you as a person? Helped you through hard times? Share them here!

You made quite a long list.  I suppose I could too.  The first song that inspired me to dance to in my teen years was actually Tap Dance, as performed by Shirley Temple. .  Then thrust into live performances, when I really didn't understand what I was getting into.  I was a girl given a stage with a DJ at my command,  and I used IT.

  This Song is so embarrassing, but it seriously is a stepping stone to my future. I never even saw the video till my employer found it for me, as a gift. OK he really just wanted to see me dance to the same song after 7 years, to see how I had changed.  Ummmm, No comment.

 I can say that now with a semblance of wisdom.  Rap music was just beginning, and I was lucky to be a tiny dancer at the right place at the right time.   I broke out with a stupid dance at a party I was taken to quite illegally into a dance club.    It was totally off the charts for what was expected, when I danced to that song.  I had lights and a stage and a little girls dream.   My escort almost died bringing a teen like me to dance, but keeping it clean, I turned out to be more skilled than the paid dancers.  I couldn't work though, officially.  I became a very well paid escort with no expectations.  My escort bought me for 7 years of 'eye-candy'.  No sex, just his private dancer and date for events..   This actually increased my value in the sex industry. My husband and children certainly enjoyed my job benefits almost as much as I enjoyed the events and travel.  I would sleep and cuddle up with my employer but he never dared enter my personal space.  I was a very frightening child by all accounts.  Even more wicked as an adult.   My DJ ADORED me and the feeling was mutual.   He earned me royalties that would eventually support my family forever by asking me to dance to a stupid song I chose. I'm sorry for such a serious post, but when a person talks about music, you must be prepared for all the range of emotions all people feel.
Music SPEAKS to everyone in different ways, so I hope you forgive my opinion about what music began to mean to me as a child. It was a mean's to and end, and I could have fun doing it.    A once in a lifetime opportunity, I couldn't pass up on.  
My husband had a very faithful wife, and that was actually why I didn't get sucked into the porn lifestyle when it would have been a quick FIX to poverty and an addict behavior to sex and drugs..  Sadly they didn't see that the Meth that enhanced the sex, was also making them age three times as fast as normal.  Soon 20 year old women looked 30 years older than me at 21.  I mean REALLY Old and it was just awful to see the mill churning out all the fresh faces to be used up and discarded.     I was just an escort, and had no say in the 21st version of slavery according to Man..

I dunno how much my music taste has shaped me as a person; have I gotten attracted to certain styles through my peers and groups I hang/hanged around with or have I just heard something that has made an impact on me and identified myself, my moods, attitudes etc. with certain lyrics or tunes? Hard to say. 

I`ve never really listened to so called mainstream or hit music and am blissfully ignorant about what`s going on in music BUSINESS nowadays. (Ok, I know there exists Bieber, Cyrus and so on..)
There are few artists (if they´re alive or still active hah!) who`s careers and album releases I have followed for years. Mostly my music taste includes old-school alternative rock, punk, new wave, experimental and art rock genres. Something deep, melancholy, aware, sexy, invigorating, funny, extreme, emotionally purifying, enjoyable or thought-provoking are only few adjectives about how I would describe the impressions I get from listening this kind of music..

For the last four years or so I`ve been organising concerts and small festival gigs on my free time so I receive lots of music samples from all sorts of garage bands and I have to make impartial selections with the bookings whether or not I like the genre myself. Also I have many friends and associates who are music students, professional or nonprofessional musicians etc. Some play progressive rock, heavy rock or rap, sing opera or folk, which are really not musically my cup of tea. But I understand their talent and their passion for self expression. 

As this post is getting a bit long, I might get back to the subject later and share some of my influential songs.

ED. So here it goes (I will spare you from the most hard core music and some other stuff in my own language that is not very easy to find from Youtube. Oh yes and the videos are not the main thing here, so you can listen with eyes shut if you will)
Of course THIS ONE was the introduction to punk scene. And as usual with punk lyrics it`s not only about discontent of political situations, but the threats what might happen for example with living in a police state where security officials have too much power..So it`s kinda current song even today

Here`s another, post punk band originally, now a bit more famous. I`m a huge fan, seen them 5 times live. I remember this was the first song they played in 2008 outdoor festival while it really was thundering, so the crowd went so mad! Of course when this song was released back in the 80`s I had no idea what is rock music or rock festival for that matter..
Lately I`ve been thinking about the lyrics, that have proven to be very ominous and I do hope Mr. Cave will do comeback in music after he has had proper mourning time.

My idea of sexy music? 
If anyone, she`s my rock goddess. Once a guy asked me to suggest him a song he could make love to(he was really thinking of sitting on his loud speakers and so on. Don`t know did he really ever do it ). This one came to my mind at once, I didn`t have to think twice.

My best performances have been done 'underground'  My escort has a label that is actually ATL gangster.   Most of his crews songs and my dances are only in private collections.  For almost 4 years of my life I didn't hear music that wasn't made just for me to dance too.  My DJ was that serious about his songs and a dancer.  It really is hard for me to relate to generics, a radio, or a MP3.   How about a DJ who knows you so well he blends in new songs in a set so perfectly seamless.    He made me into Heavenly, and I'm totally serious about that.   He didn't buy my loyalty, He bought my body and it had a mind of it's own when he began to sing.

   Once you have artists making music on stage with you, it gets a bit dull just listening to crap your told to like when a radio station plays the same Shit 40 times in 6 hours to you. and you start swaying your hips to even more generic music that turns out to be an advertisement...
   I want to climb polls, touch the ceiling and slide down it on my a$$ to an inch above the floor and wait for the next original song to start. With a single Beat of a drum I can whip a leg around the poll and begin to ascend it to an artistic expression of myself.  Sample Hell, and plagiarism.  It was amusing to me being a collage graduate, and I saw the stupidity,  but it paid very well to use my body like that.  Men love to posture,  and that is all Rap music is.   Boys comparing penises. Wads of Cash and cars that are impounded when caught being drug dealers.
  Was that a book report of a 64 count 3 minute song in 16 words?  Why can't a woman be sexy to music as she does best.?

However, I do thank you for such a personal story - and to know how a song could impact you so profoundly. I mean, dancing at a nightclub when you're a teen? It's sounds both magical and horrifying! But I'm glad that you are well and safe!
And that you didn't get hooked on meth. I had a best friend in high school who got hooked on that junk and it was unfortunate. We've been trying to get her clean but with our lives going to different ways, it's difficult to find the time to go to her and stay there.
