I seem to be noticing a good amount of people favouring the top two, both cat and dog are always the most common house pet... But I'm still not sure why... Is it due to them being the biggest animal that we can own while having them in our own house or is it because they want attention and love like us?

Also too HLB I'm sorry that I didn't add any more options such as birds or wild adoptive animals to the poll, it was an on the spot thing. ^~^

Annd to Mandi, I want Emily. Is just tooo cute! >o<

The hawks are acting weird .  I consider them my pets.
So anyways :

I planted some greenhouse peppers, and tomato plants.  I did it myself so I knew how I left the field.  I also have a habit of composting organic waste.  The Hawks love it when I BBQ.  So I left some bones outside.  Over two weeks ago.  I usually bury anything left over.
Then I plant my peppers and tomatoes.  One day passed, and all of the flowers were trimmed off my plants.  At the base of each plant was a bone.  Weird ?
I know what I cook, and remembered the shape of the bones.
I've never seen anything like this !!!
There is plenty of food for the hawks, so it just doesn't make sense why they are just cutting the leaves and flowers off of my plants, and leaving the cuttings in the dirt, but returning weeks old BONES at the base of every plant.  They are wild creatures, but this behavior even I find very unusual. In over 20 years of gardening I never saw this happen before.

A little annoying as well.  It's a good thing I find them fascinating, or I would shoot them out of the sky.  Out of curiosity, I'm wondering if the hawks are working my garden too.  The trimmings seem to be well placed, but not what I would have done.  I am very curious if those trimmed plants will survive, and thrive better than the untouched plants. More likely they will get 'nipped' too.
 Gurrrr
Birds are not the best gardeners.  But, I shall reserve judgment at a later date.  This will have to be my experiment this summer. The oddity of the situation demands my attention.

This broke my heart too. I had hamsters when I was a child.  A death every 18 months.  A parrot usually has a long life-span.

I'm including this link just because it involved parrots.
A house fire, and the birds did something unusual even in the opinion of the fire-fighters.  Birds are such lovely creatures and survived a house fire.  You Got to love Firemen and the birds they rescue .
I personally didn't like birds in my house however.  I dislike seeing them in cages.

My Hawks were beautifully viscous today.  I feel bad describing it to you;  the brutality of Mother Nature.

The birds are protecting Nests, and Eggs right now.  The tiny little robins, and sparrows and two other types I don't know names for, are doing battle in the skies above me.  I was watching the entire Show/battle.    One of the smaller birds got a broken wing and crashed to Earth, near where I was standing today.  I wanted to help it, but you can't fix broken wings on birds.  The bones are hollow, and once broken......  :(

I had to just watch, as the male Hawk, glided down and grab it for food.  As sad as it sounds,  to see such amazing flying ability astounded me.  I was no more than 10 feet away, as a Hawk with a 7 foot wingspan came down and seemed to stop in mid-air just to flex a single claw  to carry his dinner away.  The hawks seem to be used to me now, and he was not afraid of me in the least.

I never had hawks nest in my trees before.  WOW.....    I'm seeing something I never imagined from a pet living on my property before.  I wish I could describe what it is like to watch them soar on the winds.  I can fly airplanes, but could never do anything like they can do, with just a twist of a tail feather.  They fascinate me !!!!!  I'm also glad they decided to adopt me for the summer.  I don't one scratching my belly!!!  So far that was the closest one has ever gotten to me.   I must say, that was close enough for my dis-comfort level.

I love rabbits. I have never had one, but my friend did and I thought he was so cute and adorable. I often went at her house just to see the rabbit.

Reading about Rabbits reminded me of my 'child-hood' friends, family.  They bred rabbits for food.  They lived "off the grid" so to speak.
It was the most wild experience I've ever seen, and came to admire in a twisted way.
  I loved visiting their home.
They had hundreds of rabbits and I must admit because there was 14 children in the family, everyone picked out a favorite pet.  I was even included in the process, even though I was just a guest. One more little 8-16 year old girl in the home was not even noticed as a visitor.
Our favorites became breeders.  Rabbits have a personality and the chore to care for the rabbits was always given to the younger children. (myself included)  We couldn't help but to fall in love with them.

I did NOT like the harvest time.  To be honest, I saw it only once, and I started to cry so bad that the mother actually took me inside and began to hold me and rocked me in her arms to calm me down like I was her own child.  Just thinking about that memory has me in tears right now.  As a clueless child I didn't know that what I thought was a piece of fried chicken was really a rabbit.  I remember thinking the food always tasted better than what I was fed at my real home.  It is a strange thought to be sure but seriously, I learned so much from that event.  Enough to know I never wanted to see it ever again.  I became a vegan, when having dinner with the family afterwards. They raised Pigs, Cattle, Chickens and Ducks too.  I feel blessed to have been given that lesson in life though.  I didn't mind eating the scrambled eggs in the morning.  In fact duck eggs are much better tasting than any restaurant would/could ever serve.  It was so hard for me though to grow so fond of the little creatures.  I've held the little chicks in my hands.  Watched them grow.  Put my hands underneath the hens, to gather those eggs.

It is also part of the reason I refuse to Hunt, even though I live in a place that people travel too and spend Thousands of USD, just to kill a single Deer, or Elk, or Moose.  I have a hunting license, that I refuse to use unless I was starving.  I do catch fish however.  For a resident, the license is nearly free but you must have it.  Thank God there is a grocery store just down the street or I would certainly be starving myself.  This was what life was like in the wild, wild  west, when I was a child.

No,  I don't have an aquarium.  However, I love watching fish swim too.  The rainbow trout caught and baked right on the edge of the river, is incredible. (as long as my 'Boys' put the worm on the hook for me.)
