I
compiled this thorough document on Chris's business history. I excluded most everything from his personal history because I learned a lot more than I expected to, and it did something really important for me that I don't think is being adequately communicated by anybody here, or even by our Prime Bimbo right now. (Sorry HLB, I don't think you're being clear enough or straight-forward enough here, and I have experience in all sides of this issue from my work and history in online game communities. Feel free to send this directly to him for me, signed TwoDea.)
Looking into Chris for hours on end really humanized him for me. Chris is a business owner IRL and online, and a reasonably successful one at that. He isn't an idiot, but he does do stupid things, say stupid shit, and act in stupid ways. We do need to go some amount of "fair" on him because everyone has their shit. But, Chris is a human, and that ALSO means that accountability and respect should be an expectation from him. If he wants to be treated with respect, he needs to reciprocate the respect that he wants of others. If he wants this site's community to be chill with him, he needs to respect it and take responsibility for his actions regarding it.
For all the reading I've done, I haven't seen Chris apologize for anything by way of how he's treated others on Miss Bimbo or on Bimboland. And I've done a lot of reading. I didn't have to be on MB to have a clear picture of what Chris does and how he works. He makes it really clear. He acts on impulse, digs himself into deep holes, and instead of back-pedaling or apologizing or trying to make things right, he likes to double-down because he desperately wants to be in the right.
This could be his personality, but it also could be related to the on-and-off alcoholism over the past 10+ years. When deep in alcoholism, people lose grip on reality and often can't fathom that they have a problem. When in recovery and when deep in the bottle, it's easy to lose yourself in a fight for control over your life when you feel as though you have none. No amount of control you have over yourself, others, or your business is enough to feel like stable ground when you're under that influence.
(Disclaimer: I'm not an alcoholic, but I'm a mental health advocate; I have aligned with alcoholics; have advocated for alcoholics; have been with alcoholics; have worked with alcoholics and other mentally ill individuals.)
This doesn't mean he should be automatically forgiven for taking advantage of this site, the people on it, treating Miss Bimbo like ass, and apparently taking advantage of HLB's willingness to follow orders. What it DOES mean is that Chris
should rightfully have the opportunity to apologize and atone for his actions, and upon taking actions to right the wrongdoings in the past and now, have the opportunity to earn forgiveness.
This site, for someone in my job position (that does game dev, internet research, community management, and all that boring shit that nobody cares about) is a goldmine of potential opportunity for growth and success and community and positivity, and I see it every day on here. And it's unfortunate that this opportunity is squandered because of Chris's struggles and unwillingness to get help or admit when he's wrong.
Chris, when and if you eventually get to this, I feel for you. I really do. I imagine it feels like you're a deer in the headlights right now and that the only way out of any bad situation you unintentionally cause is to double down because nobody will give you a chance to do right. Especially because you are walking a thin tightrope, managing a family and multiple businesses. But from what I found, your Nana, your wife, and your newborn daughter all want you to do right. And they believe you can do right by yourself and the people in your life. The fact you try to be inclusive in your cafes' themes, participate in philanthropic work, and
try to keep your life in order is enough reason for me to believe that you
can do right. But you can't do it alone, and you can't do it without asking for help on some things.
I looked into everything you've done that's public knowledge. I found everything I could, Chris. You
can do better than your current actions show. I'd be happy to talk to you about this all from professional-to-professional if you'd like, but you need to see me and the other people on this site as human, too. Sorry for the long-post, but I think everybody needs to read something like this. Love you, internet strangers. <3
