Yes, I knew! Those are the things that makes one think that at least thought has changed, centuries later, but it finally did.

I've had to study what motivates people, today. Age is like having a time machine to an older person, when they see what is happening around them and why people do the things they do. I see young people, doing the same things I once did, and feel like I can actually read their thought's and motivation's. It's like watching your life flash before your eyes while still living. With time comes changes in technology too, and motivations to have instant gratification have drastically changed human evolution. Most importantly, How are we evolving our brains, with this new reliance on machines that do all the thinking and entertaining of an organic organism that is the human brain?

I still have a functioning computer still running this operating system. XP and win 7, 8 all still operable. For fun, I turned on Win 95 after I read what the Teen's reactions were, and It didn't bother me at all to use it again. I seem to have had no need to upgrade my computer habit's to the latest and greatest equipment. My son's keep me up to date because if left to my owe devices, I would likely be sending smoke signals very happily and getting more done than any' tecno-teen' could ever even imagine. Could that be the beginning of an new humanoid species unable to mate unless very rich and can leave the comforts of home to mate with someone living up to half-way around the world that you can fall in love with... (?)
What would motivate this new species of human to obtain food, shelter and sex, if suddenly there was no electricity and skills learned on the computer turn out to be useless, and real social skills are needed to operate in a tribal fashion to survive and eventually thrive.

Loved the notice and video haha!

I was born in the 90's and I've had computer since a very young age, so I remember using from Windows 95 to what's now. I like old-school software. Usually I use older versions of software, for the ones I can (I study graphic design, and for those programs, I need to upgrade every time)

I used to have my Win7 customized to look like Win95 because graphics use so less memory than cool, translucid, colorful Win7's ones, and the computer works faster. Of course, I'd love to have the latest computer working just perfectly. Since I can't, I've had to make old and new things coexist.

There's something I find interesting about the evolution of technology, and it's the increasing implamentation of images for everything. We're going towards (or backwards) a world of visual communication, and no words. They make the comparisson between today's operating systems and the old DOS. It was all text commands, but you had to really learn how to use it. Nowadays, you get a new phone, and you find pictograms all over the menu. The relation between the image and the application is instant. Everyone can use it and get used to it fast.

Not just that. There are each time more and more smileys for every feeling and reaction. Instead of saying things in words, feelings, reactions, they are put into a single icon. :) :( :/ :'( The undertanment is fast, but in my opinion, they lack the depth that a proper chat in words can have. I don't "love you" anymore, I "♥" you. Or I'm not happy, just "☺" !! (Yes, I'm used to that too.)

And also how the concept of time has changed. Everything has to be fast. Last week's viral video, today, it's already history. Everything has to be exposed, and it has to be now. Take a look of what I'm eating. Look where I am, what I'm doing... The question is, are you enjoying what you're eating, where you are, what you're doing? Are you living the moment at that moment? Or are you going to live the memory of the moment when you see the picture in your Facebook wall?

The topic can get as extense as all kitties' videos on Youtube put toghether. (I know we all love them)

I have a funny anecdote about this. One of my cousins has a little child that's about to be 2 years old. Her father has always given her his smartphone, and she can operate it well. One day, they showed her a real portrait with a printed picture. There was her mum and some others in it. She stared at it and said "Where's dad?" while she slided her finger through the glass trying to pass to the next photo. Everybody laughed. Some say things like it's bad for children to have such a direct realationship with technology. I don't say it's bad, or good. It is what it is. These are the times now, with their pros and cons.
