I've been hearing it a lot lately that women are just as trashy as men (sleeping around, cheating etc.) Where as before this was highly unrecognised, being that the stigma and typical saying was formerly that 'Men are Trash'. Has this really changed? Are women as equally as trash as men nowadays? Or have they always been but before we didn't notice as much?

Interesting topic, I agree with Bebe that being trashy isn't specific to gender nor is one gender more than the other. Maybe we are equally trashy in different ways.

Trashy to me is people who just don't give a f*ck about other's opinions/social constructs to the point of being obnoxious. Having multiple sex partners doesn't necessarily make someone trashy, I think it becomes trashy when it's not discrete. And just because someone makes a mistake once such as getting disastrously drunk etc it doesn't mean they themselves are trashy - we all make mistakes especially in our teens/and young 20's. The hope is that by the time you reach mid-20s you got it all out of your system and become a productive responsible adult.

This is the definition given by somebody on Urban Dictionary, which sums it up pretty good:

A person who lacks class. Trashy people exist among all races and socioeconomic levels. Trashy people lack meaningful goals and purpose in life. They are not very concerned with academic subjects, worldly matters, nor culture, but are more amused with unimportant matters and simple activities such as celebrity gossip, shopping for useless merchandise (like cigarettes), and excessive partying into late hours. Other than spending money, trashy people contribute little or nothing to society, which is why they are associated with "trash". Due to low self-esteem and insecurity, trashy people attempt to overcompensate and "try too hard". Examples are wearing excessive amounts of make-up, wearing provocative clothing (whether they're in shape or not), getting drunk and behaving obnoxiously in clubs and bars, making derogatory statements, promiscuity, and talking loudly in profane and explicit language in public. Although they may think they're cool, most other people find them obnoxious, stinky, immature, irresponsible, and unattractive.

An example of this would say be the cast of Jersey Shore or similar reality tv shows.

Both sexes are just as good or bad as each other - it's more the social connotations that come with it that I don't agree with ie. Male = Stud, Woman = Slut. I don't care what people do in their lives - so long as it's consensual and doesn't harm others not involved, you do you.

I will say one thing about male/female dynamic when it comes to the ideas of promiscuity in the development of Homo sapiens. There appears to be a direct correlation in primates and the Homo genus between who faithful the female of the species is and the proportional size of the male genitalia. For example, the largest in the group, male gorillas, have faithful female harems and have the smallest cock and balls relative to size (or, in fact in direct comparison). Chimpanzees, on the other hand, are not polygynous or even close to monogamous and have genitals 2-3x bigger than gorillas. Of our closest ancestors however, humans have penis' that dwarf them all. Does this suggest that in our development as a species, Homo sapiens are in fact descended from a culture of orgies and fuck-fests free-for-alls?

But, you say, why are we monogamous now? Well, that would come down to religion, economics and social pressures. Anthropologists would agree that monogamy is not the default for humans, maybe that there isn't a default.

Trash, class, slut, stud, morals - these are all social constructs and depend on your background, upbringing and education. So IMHO, men and women are as trashy as each other, as classy as each other, as "whatever" as each other.

To me, being trashy has absolutely nothing to do with how many sexual partners you have, how 'slutty' you are, or how much you enjoy sex. Sex is a good, positive thing - It's a form of intimate human connection. The idea that a person's worth should be defined by that is a seriously outdated and sexist view. Trashiness is really everything about how you treat others in this world, whose toes you're willing to step on just to get what you want; whether you hold odious political views that are extreme and divisive.

Yes ­ a Ximbo can hold the position of Prime Ximbo for 3 terms max.
